Agilent Technologies' separation from Hewlett-Packard Company is the result of a corporate realignment. On November 18, 1999, Agilent listed as a public company on the New York Stock Exchange. At the time, Agilent's U.S.$2.1 billion initial public offering of stock was the largest in Silicon Valley history. Agilent operates four businesses: test and measurement, semi-conductor products, healthcare solutions and chemical analysis, supported by a central laboratory. Its businesses excel in applying measurement technologies to develop products that sense, analyze, display and communicate data.

ANSYS, Inc., a leader in collaborative engineering, exemplifies its ongoing commitment to engineering education through the ANSYS, Inc. Educational Program. Currently the ANSYS, Inc. Educational Program aids over 2,000 colleges, universities, and educational institutions worldwide in teaching the fundamentals of finite element analysis.
Today the focus of the Educational Program has been directed towards recognizing the many technical and economic developments that are constantly changing the nature of manufacturing thus creating a demand for engineers who understand advanced computational techniques. Thousands of engineers will be needed to meet the demands of this ever-changing engineering community, and ANSYS, Inc.'s goal is to ensure institutions of higher education will be capable of preparing a new generation of engineers for the challenges that lie ahead.

American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) publishes books, journals, proceedings, and databases in the aerospace field.

American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE) is an organization concerned with the education of engineers. Visit the site and learn more about various ways in which a member of this organization can participate in its activities. It is a worthwhile society to join.

The MacNeal Schwendler Corporation markets an Introductory Multimedia Course, which is a self paced, interactive course that includes hundreds of animations, simulated PATRAN operations, sounds, graphics, and engineering simulations. The company provides a demo CD which introduces MSC/PATRAN to new users. Students will master the basic skills required to use MSC/PATRAN in typical engineering applications. The applications emphasize the development of practical skills through comprehensive hands-on studies. Each of the 13 cases on the demo CD demonstrates a major feature such as modeling, importing CAD data, defining material properties, creating boundary conditions, submitting jobs for analysis, and postprocessing results.
