Mechanical Engineering News

An internet publication of the Mechanical Engineering Division of the American Society for Engineering Education

INFORMATION FOR CONTRIBUTORS

Mechanical Engineering News will "print" a number of features, including:

  • Textbook Reviews
  • Equipment Reviews
  • Software Reviews
  • Amusements

Division Officers, Roe Award Information, and Call for Papers appear pretty much unchanged from issue to issue.

Textbook Reviews is a feature that contains a review of recently published textbooks. Articles are not solicited. Instead, potential authors who wish to be on the textbook reviewer list should submit their name and address to the editor, and include the areas of interest (e.g., fluid mechanics, dynamics, automatic controls, etc.).

Equipment Reviews is a feature that contains a description of recently purchased equipment. The article should contain information that is useful to someone who is considering purchasing the same apparatus. At the appropriate time, an invitation to submit an extended abstract about a particular device (such as a wind tunnel) will appear at this web site, on this very page. Submitted abstracts will be reviewed and potential authors will be invited to submit completed papers. Papers will be reviewed before they are "published." Accepted papers will appear in the next "issue."

Software Reviews is a feature that contains a description of recently marketed software. The article should contain information that is useful to someone who wishes to purchase the same software, or who is considering the use of the same software in the classroom. At the appropriate time, an invitation to submit a review of a particular type of software (such as that used in Thermodynamics courses) will appear at this web site, on this very page. Submitted articles will be reviewed, and based on the results, selected papers will be "published." Accepted papers will appear in the next "issue."

Amusements is a feature that contains puzzles, anecdotes, jokes, poems, etc., that is of interest to the Mechanical Engineering community. Anyone is invited to submit something, but we cannot guarantee that everything submitted will be used.

If you are interested in submitting a review article, contact William S. Janna.
